Broadcast PR - Markettiers

September 28, 2017

I often tell people when they ask about my job that no two days are ever the same – well, I spent Tuesday in London with reigning GBBO champ, Candice Brown, running a broadcast session and getting her out and about to locations. Wednesday, on the other hand, was spent running around Manchester city centre with jolly old Saint Nick… in September!

It all started with a great idea from Josh: run a Christmas Clinic on broadcast PR campaigns for fellow agencies in the North West. Similar to the broadcast workshop but geared towards landing coverage at Christmas, the clinics will be a great way to get us in front of agencies as they start to plan their Crimbo strategies.

But, at markettiers Manchester we aren’t fans of a catch-all email, and based on the success of our Summer Ice Cream Van stunt we set about calling in a few favours to get Santa to take a break from his own Christmas preparations and come and help us out for a few hours.

Harder than getting Santa on-board, Jess had the unenviable task of finding mince pies in September but came up trumps an hour before Santa walked through our office doors, along with other Christmas goodies.

I then set off with Santa to deliver the markettiers Christmas Clinic message to the agencies.

To say people were surprised is an understatement; but slightly bewildered expressions soon turned to sheer joy at the sight of Santa and his gift boxes.

The boxes not only contained sweet treats but our twitter handle and the hashtag #ChristmasClinic with a number of case studies demonstrating our past experience and successes, and Santa delivered the messaging that now is the time to start preparing for Christmas by getting your clients’ festive broadcast PR campaigns in the pipeline.

The day was a great success with plenty of pick-up across the markettiers Manchester twitter feed and plenty of agencies asking for further info on the clinics.

So, with our Christmas outreach in the bag I’m sure the cogs in Josh’s head are whirring and I’ll be off on another strange adventure around Manchester soon… maybe a spot of wing-walking or as the back half of a pantomime horse!
