STUDENT GROUP CLAIM
BRIEF
StudentGroupClaim, a UK-wide group legal claim seeking compensation for disrupted university teaching, tasked us with raising awareness and driving sign-ups of their attempt to claim a refund on student tuition fees during lockdown. The initial judgement could have given more than 100,000 students the green light to claim money back from their university after disruption created by COVID and strikes. We worked on the case for [months], building relationships with circa 900 student case studies and briefing media nationally, internationally and [regionally], from when the claim was announced to the litigation.
STRATEGY
A High Court hearing in May 2023 was the first in a series of legal actions undertaken by StudentGroupClaim.co.uk who are determined to help students and graduates to achieve justice. Our role was to tell the stories of the students impacted and ensuring that the complexities of a legal case like this could be understood by audiences, while also securing reference to the website and how people can sign up.
RESULTS
On the day of the hearing the prep work of engaging with media and briefing case studies alongside the increased awareness of the litigation paid off with us achieving a total of more than 80 interviews and nearly 2,000 plus items of broadcast coverage over 24 hours. With a team on site at Wogan House and the Royal Courts of Justice, we’re happy to say our story received (and continues to receive) the attention it deserves from the likes of almost every major broadcaster including the agenda-setting BBC Radio 4 Today programme, BBC World Service, You & Yours, ITV News, Channel 4, Sky News, the Global Radio network, GB News, Good Morning Britain, 30+ BBC regionals, and many, many others.
