ASA & RNLI SwimSafe

In July, for the third consecutive year, markettiers4dc worked with the ASA and RNLI to launch their annual SwimSafe campaign, a free programme built around improving safety for all 7-14 year old in open water throughout the summer months at beaches and lakes across England.

The campaign spokespeople, Olympic Swimmer medallist Keri-anne Payne, Jon Glenn, Head of Learn to Swim at ASA, Pip Hare from RNLI and local families, delivered live interviews against the backdrop of swimming lessons held on Bournemouth beach and the ambient sounds of the sea.

A total of 170 radio and TV opportunities were secured overall, notably a television opportunity with Sky Sunrise as well as Sky News Radio, which acts as a news hub to the commercial radio network.

“Being able to broadcast the SwimSafe launch from the beach-side with a live swimming lesson added atmosphere to radio and TV interviews – something that would not have been possible in a studio environment. Overall, the day was a great success, running seamlessly with no technical issues.”

“As someone who is in a line of work where there is never enough time, it’s great when an organisation is able to set up a news story to help you out. That’s the case with markettiers4dc who were a great help in setting up interviews, providing necessary facts and finding places to film.”
