Cabinet minister fronts markettiers4dc campaign on new flexible working

markettiers4dc successfully handled the radio for the Government’s new flexible working legislation which came into force yesterday.

We were asked by leading PR company, Trimedia, to seek radio coverage for the new law which sees the right to request flexible working extended to all parents with children aged 16 and under.

We set up interviews for BBC Radio 5 Live and Sky News Radio with Harriet Harman MP, Minister for Women & Equality. Sky’s subsequent package ran in the news bulletins on at least 130 commercial radio stations.

In addition we set up 15 further local radio interviews principally for Damion Queva, publisher of FQ (Fathers Quarterly) magazine and Elizabeth Gardiner from Working Families, a leading charity promoting work-life balance and flexible working. Five local BBC stations were included in the schedule.

We welcomed to our TV studio Yvette Cooper MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury and herself a mother of three young children. She joined a leading midwife and an expectant mother for the programme which ran live simultaneously across 17 key web sites, with each of them then also taking it on demand.

Sites which ran the programme included Netmums, eParenting, Mummy Madness, Family Relationships, Happy Families, Primary Times, UK Parents Lounge, Family Rapp, Female First, Silky Steps and What To Do With The Kids, together with three ISPs – Tiscali, Supanet and My Village, plus My Finances and the news site – In The News.
