The Pentax Meet Britain campaign is a nationwide competition calling on members of the public to submit images of the things which they feel encapsulate our iconic Britishness. The best images will be chosen to appear in a public exhibition and entrants have the chance to win a new Pentax K-30 camera or even £1,000.
markettiers4dc were briefed by Escapade PR to create content using the campaign ambassadors, Reggie Yates and Sarah Harding, that would raise awareness of the campaign and drive entries via the Pentax UK facebook page. All the content was shot in a style befitting the subject matter and the high production values and the appeal of the ambassadors proved an incredibly successful combination.
As a keen photographer and willing to share some of his work within the content, Reggie proved an excellent interviewee for a video feature designed to provide amateur enthusiasts or absolute beginners with photography tips to help them take better pictures and increase their chances of winning the competition. Sarah also proved to be an inspired choice for the campaign, sharing her top tips on how to look great in front of the lens, along with some exciting news on her career plans, in a separate video feature.
The resulting online coverage, on sites including the national newspapers The Sun, Daily Mail and Daily Star, as well as more specialist interest but highly indexed sites including Amateur Photographer, Photography Monthly and ePhotozine (and Sarah Harding Addicts), coincided with a successful print outreach by Escapade PR and ensured huge awareness of the campaign. The videos were viewed thousands of times and the competition received hundreds of entries in the first two weeks of the campaign alone.
