Green Ambassador Awards 2018

The Green Ambassador Awards 2018 searched for the UK’s top green teams and teachers within primary schools. WWF this year wanted to champion those who are advocating environmental and sustainability issues within their School.

markettiers joined the initiative to raise awareness throughout the UK so that people would encourage each other to take part and nominate their local primary school. We worked in partnership with WWF and secured celebrity supporter Cel Spellman to be the spokesperson. He was so full of energy and worked tirelessly with vim and vigour through the broadcast session to bring WWF and the Green Ambassador Awards to the fore of listeners’ minds and attention. All the broadcast presenters with whom we’d secured interviews engaged hugely positively with Cel’s passion and enthusiasm in their interviews, creating influential and informative on air discussions. Our directive to help promote the importance of educating young people and getting them involved in the environmental scheme was realised through stellar coverage.

Serendipitously, the same day our coverage landed, Environment Secretary Michael Gove released a statement promising to implement a deposit scheme on bottles and cans and backing the purge on plastic drink stirrers. Utilising this development meant we were able to weave this into our sell-in the day before and Sky Sunrise broadcast outdoors on Southbank and discussed this wider issue as well as the Green Awards, which led to not one but two WWF on-air brand mentions. Newsroom also secured multiple broadcast interviews, including talkRADIO and myriad regional BBCs, reaching a potential listenership of 4.3 million.
