Following the successful launch of the Tackle Meningitis campaign in September, markettiers yet again secured stand out broadcast coverage for GSK with campaign ambassador and former England rugby star Matt Dawson
Challenge:Following the successful launch of the Tackle Meningitis campaign, a partnership between GSK and two leading Meningitis charities, in September 2016, markettiers were tasked with securing a second burst of high quality coverage on the same topic, again using campaign ambassador Matt Dawson, the former England rugby scrum half.
Solution:
Coverage had been secured widely around the initial launch of Tackle Meningitis and so we ensured we were pitching in a fresh angle of research, creating new discussion for broadcasters. This focused on parents awareness of Meningitis, linking well to Matt's own experience when his son was rushed to hospital with it. We ensured that Matt was accompanied by a GSK doctor in studio as well in order to communicate as many of the symptoms and warning signs as effectively as possible. The broadcast session took place the day before the England vs Argentina Autumn International Test, thus providing a natural news hook for presenters looking to speak to Matt.
Results:
Excellent coverage was secured on the day, including a live sofa slot on Good Morning Britain followed by radio interviews with the likes of talkSPORT, BBC Wales, BBC Northampton for Matt, and many more for both himself and Dr Stephen. An audio feature was also recorded with them both and is currently being placed, with pick up of that looking to exceed 20 items.
