Searching for the UKs best park

Fields in Trust ran a campaign asking the public to nominate the UK’s Best Park to shine a spotlight on the unique and vital role green spaces and parks play in our lives.

Challenge:

Encourage the maximum number of Britons to nominate their local park for consideration in the UK’s Best Park Awards by putting parks at the top of the national and regional news agenda

Solution:

Harnessing unique regional research data and tackling ‘head-on’ the prevailing social issues of obesity, reduction in outdoor play and the threat of development to green spaces, coupled with access to the charity Chief Executive, Helen Griffiths, we developed a compelling, hard-hitting story to attract broadcast media interest.

Results:

markettiers secured blanket coverage across the radio network including no less than twenty BBC national and regional stations, Sky News Radio covering off a huge swathe of the commercial network and a host of independent stations serving local communities across the UK. The broadcast coverage prompted a high number of fresh nominations, including several previously ‘unrecognised’ local parks
