David Cameron launches first new Nissan LEAF

On 28th March 2013 Prime Minister David Cameron drove the first new generation electric LEAF off the production line at Nissan’s Sunderland plant… and markettiers4dc was there managing all the broadcast activity.

From 05.30 in the morning we ran a series of live interviews from the plant into key regional and national news programmes featuring Nissan executives and zero emissions supporter – the actor Robert Llewellyn (Kryten in Red Dwarf). We managed eight broadcasters on location and filmed the launch event putting it out live via satellite truck for UK TV broadcasters.

We also speedily edited on site B-Roll for broadcasters unable to attend the event and a video news package for distribution to news, automotive and environment-focused websites.

On top of Sky News running live our feed of the launch and several of their own news reports, the BBC ran a long package all cut from our B-Roll and there was comprehensive coverage from ITV, Bloomberg TV, China's CCTV – the world's biggest broadcaster, the key business broadcaster – Channel News Asia, and widespread international TV coverage on stations in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.

BBC 5Live’s Wake up to Money, Radio 4’s PM programme, BBC World Service Radio’s Newsday breakfast programme, BBC Radio Newcastle, Real Radio North East, Metro Radio and Sun FM all ran interviews as part of their comprehensive coverage, while The Telegraph, Express, MSN and many more websites ran our footage to bring their online stories to life.

Meanwhile, Reuters cut a package from our material, fed it worldwide that afternoon to their 640+ TV channels and saw it picked up and run by a further 60 news websites.
