Laphroaig Live

For the ninth year running, we broadcast Laphroaig Live; a 40 minute live and interactive TV show streamed online. This year Laphroaig returned home with the production coming live from the island of Islay. The show was the centrepiece of Laphroaigs 200th anniversary celebrations with a live audience of over 100 workers, islanders, founders and Friends of Laphroaig; including a live link to 75 Friends in New York. The CEO of parent company Bean and his board were also present.

The single malt whisky brand has a database of over half a million ‘Friends’ around the world who follow Laphroaig avidly and so each year the annual live whisky tasting show is streamed to them from a different country. After trips to the Sweden, US, Spain, Germany and Australia, Laphroaig Live came home to Scotland.

The show is much more than an online whisky tasting session, filmed on the malting floor at the Laphroaig distillery in front of a live studio audience the programme features several guests, music and of course whisky. markettiers4dc managed all production and logistics for the stream to be broadcasted live as well as place the content on third party websites and high profile whisky blogs.

The stream was placed on over 17 sites including Express, Scotland Now, Food and Drink Scotsman, Whisky Reviewer, Whisky Business and Liquor.com. On the night thousands of viewers in a record number logged on live from a number of countries including Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Romania, Israel, Australia, Canada and a particularly large audience from the US from East coast to West.

Viewers joined in with the interactive show with many questions answered on air as well as huge social media engagement as friends posted photos of themselves tasting along with the show, buoyed by the presence of Hollywood actor Sam Heughan. Viewers were invited to raise a virtual toast to their much loved whisky brand, and over 4,000 of them did by pressing a ‘Cheers’ button specially created for the 200th anniversary show.
