Love Your Lungs

Last week, markettiers4dc were graced with the presence of a doyenne of the British soap scene. Liz Dawn, who played Vera Duckworth in Coronation Street, was a pivotal and much loved character in the soap for over 33 years but sadly had to leave the street last year when her health began to deteriorate after she was diagnosed with the lung condition, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

COPD is an umbrella term for a group of lung conditions including emphysema and chronic bronchitis, and is currently the fifth biggest killer in UK.

Recently appointed celebrity ambassador for the British Lung Foundation, markettiers4dc worked with the charity to drive awareness of 'Breathe Easy Week', particularly the 'Love Your Lungs' campaign fronted by Liz.

The exceptional results of the campaign have gone on to help this year's campaign become one of the most successful Breathe Easy weeks to date. Coverage was achieved on This Morning, GMTV, Loose Women, Sky News Radio, talkSPORT, BBC 5 Live, Unique Broadcasting Network, BBC London and a host of regional BBC stations. markettiers4dc also filmed a video feature on location in Manchester (Liz's home city) ahead of Breathe Easy Week to tap into key portals on the web. Coverage was achieved on the Daily Mail online, MSN, AOL, Tiscali, Yahoo, Netdoctor, In the News and 50connect amongst others. Mercia FM filmed the radio interview with Liz Dawn and placed on their website, view it below.
