Parkinson's UK Awareness Week 2016

markettiers worked with Parkinson’s UK for the 5th year running, securing extensive national and regional coverage

For the fifth year running, markettiers were delighted to work with Parkinson's UK on their annual Parkinson's Awareness Week campaign. Our remit was to support them in delivering TV and radio interviews with additional audio content to boost coverage throughout the UK. This year research reveals that nearly two fifths of people with Parkinson's have felt the need to hide their symptoms or even lie about having the condition. During the awareness week, Parkinson's UK encouraged people to seek support following their diagnosis, whether through friends, family or Parkinson’s UK facilities such as local groups, online resources or their helpline.

Utilising access to variety of senior and regional Parkinson's representatives, comedy writer Paul Mayhew Archer, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 5 years ago, and numerous case studies across the UK, extensive coverage was secured across the national and regional TV and radio network. Highlights included BBC 4 Today programme, BBC Radio 5Live, BBC London, Sky News, Sky News Radio, LBC and BBC Ulster to name a few. Extensive regional coverage was also secured across 29 local BBC & commercial interviews, as well as 7 regional TV opportunities across BBC and ITV local news programming including BBC North West, BBC Look North East, ITV East Anglia and ITV Granada.
