Last week Alton Towers opened its gates to welcome the brand new attraction â€“ Sharkbait Reef by SEA LIFE, a pirate-themed aquarium. markettiers4dc helped launch the new aquarium – which features over 300 exotic species of sea life, including sharks, rays and seahorses and over 1 million litres of water. To promote the opening – ‘man of the moment’ Ray Quinn skated in (fresh off the back of his ‘Dancing on Ice’ win just a week before), to help promote the 10m long Ocean Tank Tunnel – the UK’s only tropical interactive pool for families.
markettiers4dc created a Radio & Online broadcast strategy to encourage families and children to visit the new Sharkbait Reef by Sea Life centre at Alton Towers Resorts. A video feature was recorded with celebrity Ray Quinn, to engage with families and parents to encourage visitors. Ray was great fun during filming – dressing up as a pirate… and even swam IN the fishtank with fellow ‘Rays’, making for great viewing.
In the limited time available, markettiers4dc also recorded newsbites and an audio feature with Ray, who spoke about the new attraction and his recent victory on the ice rink; with the audio feature including Alton Towers spokesperson, Morwenna Angove, Sales and Marketing Director, with details on the new Alton Towers Resort fun!
Coverage for the campaign is now being secured, and so far includes Unique Entertainment News (the largest syndicated rolling showbiz news and bulletin service in the UK), Juice Liverpool and Mercia FM.
